Pupil Voice and Leadership

 Article 12 in The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states that, ‘Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously’ (UNICEF 1992).

Pupil Voice and Leadership at Clapham Manor Primary School is about the empowerment of pupils to enable them to be engaged and involved in their learning process and the life of the school. We aim to support pupils with becoming global citizens with strong morals, understanding of how to impact change and to be aware of their rights.

We encourage children to be :

  • Independent learners
  • Critical and creative thinkers 
  • Confident to voice opinions in appropriate ways
  • Good listeners

PUPIL VOICE

We enable children the opportunity to ensure that their voices and opinions are heard. We aim to regularly engage pupil voice to make genuine improvements and ensure that our children know how their opinions have brought about change within our school, giving the children the opportunity to assist with improvements along the journey.

Pupil voice is gathered through a range of methods such as pupil parliament, pupil voice surveys and learning walks. As a result, our children feel safe to share their opinions and viewpoints.

PUPIL LEADERSHIP

At Clapham Manor Primary School and Nursery, we actively promote pupil leadership opportunities, enabling the children to develop valuable communication and organisation skills. We believe that providing pupils with key roles of responsibility is paramount to their development and learning experience. We strive to craft confident and articulate leaders who can share their views to any audience and apply their leadership skills to real life situations.

We are moulding leaders of the future, ready for work, ready for the world.
