House Captains

One way that pupil leadership is valued and celebrated at Clapham Manor is through our House Captains.

To facilitate our new House Captains taking a proactive role in the school we elect them through a process involving applications for their position and candidates making speeches to their peers and teachers to show what skills and attributes they will bring to this role.

What are a House Captains’ Roles and Responsibilities?

The role of a House Captain is to lead their house throughout the year – this means being a positive role model at all times and representing their house with pride and enthusiasm.  They also have a role to play in representing the school to our school community and beyond.

What do our House Captains’ do as part of their role?

  • Support with House events such as Mini Olympics, Sports Day, House Picnics and other class based house competitions and events such as reading and TTRS competitions.

  • Work with Mr McGowan and Ms Stoneham to organise and leader inter-house competitions each term.

  • Support during parent/ carer conferences to show parents and carers around the building.

  • Welcome/ tours of the school for visitors.

  • Front of house for school performances to welcome parents and carers.

  • Collect and total up House points on a weekly basis and share this with the school.

  • Set up the hall for assemblies and support the leadership team in preparing the hall.
